DESCRIPTION:The Greater Chattanooga Democratic Women's Club will welco
 me TN's House Democratic Caucus Chairman Mike Turner as its guest spea
 ker for their November meeting. Representative Turner will address Hea
 lth Care Reform.\n\nTurner was elected by the people of District 51 in
  2000, and served on numerous House committees before he was elected C
 hairman of the Democratic Caucus in 2008. He currently serves on the F
 inance Committee, the Corrections Oversight Committee, the Health Comm
 ittee, the Government Operations Committee, the Calendar and Rules Com
 mittee, the Ethics Commission, and the Joint Legislative Operations Co
 mmittee.\n\nPrior to holding political office, Turner was employed wit
 h Ford Motor Company, the Davidson County Sheriff's Department, the Da
 vidson County General Sessions Court, and was a Captain-EMT for the Na
 shville Fire Department. He served as Secretary, 1st Vice President, a
 nd President of the Nashville Firefighters Association, as a Board Mem
 ber of the Tennessee Fire Commission, and as President of the Tennesse
 e Professional Firefighters' Union.\n\nHe has also been on the board o
 f the Donelson-Hermitage, Madison, Rivergate, Nashville, and Old Hicko
 ry Chambers of Commerce and on the Board of the American Red Cross. He
  is a member of the Kiwanis Club, Amnesty International, and many envi
 ronmental groups, including the Sierra Club, Green Peace, Tennessee Co
 nservation Voters, and Tennessee Conservation League. Turner served fo
 r 17 years as a member of the AFL-CIO and is presently Executive Direc
 tor.\n\nRepresentative Turner is a graduate of Dupont High School and 
 attended Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee State Univers
 ity. He and his wife Dinah have 3 daughters and reside in Old Hickory 
 where they attend the United Methodist Church.\n\nAll interested perso
