American Clean Energy and Security Act

I'm passing on this info sent out by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy followed by some contact info for our two Senators and their relevant legislative assistants:

Last Friday the House of Representatives made history with its first vote on a comprehensive energy plan that puts a legal limit on our nation’s global warming pollution.

This bill creates an average of 53,700 new jobs per state across the Southeast, and Voteits investments in energy efficiency are expected to save households approximately $1,050 by 2020 and $4,400 by 2030.

The final vote was close: 219 to 212, so every vote counted!

Your phone calls, emails and letters to Congress helped build critical support for the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009! In fact, some Representatives based their decision to support solely on the comments they received from constituents like you.

Of the 219 members who voted to support this bill, 24 were from our Southeastern states. The Representatives who voted to pass this bill include:

FL: Reps. Allen Boyd, Corrine Brown, Kathy Castor, Alan Grayson, Ron Klein, Suzanne Kosmas, Kendrick Meek, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Robert Wexler.

Please take a moment to call the Representatives from your state that supported this legislation. Thank them for their leadership in creating a 21st century energy policy that creates jobs and saves consumers money in your state, and let them know you’re counting on them to continue supporting and strengthening this proposal.
