Tennessee Democratic Party

The Official Community for Tennessee's Democrats

Where in the world is government run health care working? All I see are countries going deeper and deeper into debt. There is only one country I know of that is not going into debt, and they have billions of oil revenues controlled by their government, and that is Sweden. The oldest "social" medical program is the British system and it is failing badly and was started during WWII.

Will someone please tell me of one other county with government run health care that isn't going into deeper debt?

Your family should turn off Glenn Beck.

"I would like to add the fact not one of them in the White House has ever had a real non-government related job in their entire life"

I want you to prove that statement is true. You made it, prove it.
As requested, here is some of the sources for my claim that the British system is "failing badly.

Great Britain's National Health Service (NHS) was created on July 5, 1948. As with all government programs, bureaucrats underestimated initial cost projections. First-year operating costs of NHS were 52 million pounds higher than original estimates1 as Britons saturated the so-called free system.

Many decades of shortages, misery and suffering followed until 1989, when some market-based health care competition was reintroduced to the British citizens.

Unfortunately for those requiring care, a mostly socialist health care system has problems. The articles and commentaries in this section identify some disasters caused by government intervention in the British health care system.

Also recommend reading David G. Green and Laura Casper's economic report, Delay, Denial and Dilution: The Impact of NHS Rationing on Heart Disease and Cancer to see the inevitable outcome of the necessary rationing of government health care.

Published in the New Jersey Sunday Herald, November 23, 2008:

Last month, Great Britain's health care watchdog ruled that four new kidney cancer drugs shouldn't be covered by the National Health Service. The agency decided these drugs aren’t worth the cost, even though they are widely prescribed by cancer experts worldwide and may offer the last hope for many British cancer patients.

While this news went relatively unnoticed in the United States, Americans should take note. Congress is currently considering legislation to create a similar watchdog agency. And if we're not careful, the U.S. government could be rendering similar decisions.

Britain's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is the government body in charge of deciding, among other things, which treatments should be covered by the NHS. NICE reviews clinical trial data to make its own decisions about whether new state-of-the-art drugs are any more effective than lower-priced alternatives. If it decides the newer drugs aren't sufficiently better, NHS doesn't cover them.
____________________

Now, I need to ask you. Do you really think the 2,400 page bill being considered by Congress, the one that creates 111 new agencies, panels and committees and extends care to 28 million uninsured people will ever save any money? When has our government ever saved money by creating a bureaucracy?
Eric, come clean. You're not doing research, you're not doing anything other than trying to infiltrate the Democratic Party in TN and pretend to be a Democrat. Everything you've posted is straight out of Faux News, Hannity and Limbaugh. You choose to not believe the Congressional Budget Office Report that this bill will save money, insure Americans and help reduce the deficit. You are not a Democrat, and no amount of posturing here is going to convince anyone that you have honorable intentions, or are a Democrat. If you think that Jim Cooper is too liberal, that speaks volumes about you.

I would not go for the throat of any old poster here, but somebody proclaiming themselves to be a Democrat and announcing a run for office, whilst espousing views that are contrary to the party's platform, while encouraging Democrats to not donate to this very organization, while encouraging Democrats to look for "socialists" in the party and while starting a boycott of votes for or donations to current Democrats whom you think to be corrupt or "socialists" makes you very suspect in my eyes. You've elevated yourself above that of a normal member posting here by declaring yourself a candidate.

I don't believe you are a Democrat. You were registered as a Republican in Florida. People deserve to know that. They deserve to know the truth behind your "Democratic Reform Party" agenda, and they need to decide for themselves, as I have, if your intentions are honorable. I think they are not.

I too can copy and past junk from all over the Internet. So you can use Google and a web browser, well bless your heart. You don't seem to have any ideas about the health care crisis that can actually contribute to the conversation but you're real good at asking coy questions and slyly pretending to be seeking answers. The truth is, you're a person who has already made up his mind about something and now you are doing "research" to prove your pre-determined conclusion. There is nothing scientific about that process, to say the least. Don't you think we know a "leading question" when we see one, or do you honestly think we're stupid?

And I have a copy of the health bill, its 2074 pages, Why do you say its 2400? More hyperbole?

The very fact that you would post "It has only been a little bit over a year, but who in their right mind would of thought we would now have pro-Marxist, pro-Fascist, and pro-Communist czars and advisers in the White House? Now, who in their right mind would want National Health Care with them taking part in running it?" show us who you are. This bill is not a "national health care" plan and you continue to use the Marsha Blackburn, Lamar Alexander and Bob "Harold, Call Me" Corker talking points to asset that it is. You've obviously, like them, not read the thing. There is no "government takeover" and there is no "national health care system" in it. Thats a lie, and you're spreading it, intentionally, and I'd like to know why.

You're NOT a Democrat. Nobody likes a liar. Liars are always found out. There are no pro-Communist, etc. "czars" and advisors in the White House. The president, whom you obviously do not support, has been in office since Jan, so its not been over a year, either. You sure are loose with the facts when it suits you and makes you think you are propping up your point.

I suggest your daughters turn off Faux News and Glenn Beck. They are not Democrats, you are not a Democrat, and its disgusting that you're posing as one now on this site, posting here to try to get supporters for your campaign, while running your own website to specifically advise people to NOT DONATE to this very organization you seek to find support within.
Click on the below link to read the Reid – Health Care Bill:

http://www.democraticreformparty.com/ReidBill.pdf

We as Americans have not been able to read the full current Reid – Health Care Bill. As such, I have acquired a copy and posted it on a web site I started for my fellow democrats that do not agree with our Democratic Party representatives in Washington.

I realize some of you may not be happy with me posting this Health Care Bill, but I strongly believe “We The People” have the right to read it, including the Republican U.S. Senators.

Please remember to vote for me in 2010, Democratic Party candidate for U.S. Congress in the 5th District, Tennessee.
What do you mean "we as Americans have not been able to read the full current Reid - Health Care Bill?" That is simply not true. You made that up, out of whole cloth.

We as Americans have the Internets, that wonderful series of tubes, just like you do. This bill in every single version, has consistently been up online, its not like you cracked some secret code or something. Its not hidden. Do you mean to present this as you doing something heroic for us poor saps who couldn't find it ourselves, or chose to read it ourselves? I don't mean to sound cold-hearted, but as a "candidate," this makes you sound desperate.

Lookie here: http://democrats.senate.gov/reform/patient-protection-affordable-ca...

All 2074 pages of it are right there, easy as pie to find. Its not hidden. Its not being kept away from the public. There is no conspiracy to prohibit Republicans from reading it, and frankly there is no truth to your claim that "we are Americans have not been able to read" this bill.

Why would you say such a thing? Do you really believe it or are you trying to stir up people and create some kind of bull-hockey conspiracy thing? Oh, now I know why. You're not a Democrat. You're pretending to be one to try to raise money and challenge the District 5 Congressman, Jim Cooper.

Well bless your heart.....

And stating the obvious "we the people" have a right to read it, as though its being hidden, is pretty outlandish. Of course we have the right. Nobody is trying to stop us from reading it. Nobody is keeping the Republicans from reading it. They don't WANT to read it. They wouldn't vote for it anyway. I heard more than one Republican say they don't have to read it because they aren't going to vote for it anyway.

So this is all some push to try to get votes to unseat Jim Cooper? You're challenging Jim Cooper in the primary, is that what all this posturing is? Well I'm glad you linked that bill to the "Democratic Reform Party" website that you built, where its clear for everyone to see the agenda of that group you created.

You're free to believe and say whatever you want, but I've got the same freedoms. And if you're going to come to the Tennessee Democratic Party's website with your Quixotic faux-Democrat campaign and an agenda that asserts that we the members have no control of our party, or to discourage us from voting for Democrats in elections in, as your little site puts it, "blind allegiance" or advocating cutting off funding of the very party whose website is funded by the donations you seek to cut off, you can expect that maybe some of us will take offense.

You'll find this lifelong Democrat has no patience for faux-Democrat, Republican "commie hunting" fans of Joe McCarthy on a witch hunt for "socialist" in this party. None, whatsoever. And as a member of this party, I will fight tooth and nail to keep this little "Democratic Reform Party" screwball agenda and your faux-Democrat self from trying to launch these kind of conspiratorial, divisive, repugnant campaigns within our Democratic Party. You're not the only one who can call out stuff they don't like.

You're not a Democrat. You were a registered Republican in Florida. And you waddle like a Republican Duck, you quack like a Republican Duck so you must still be a Republican Duck. It takes brass stones to come into a website paid for by donations of party members with an agenda of choking the funding of the party that gave you this platform to bark out this nonsense. Let me guess, you actually voted for President Obama, right?

You can bet I will make sure my friends in District Five know what your true affiliation is when you run in 2010. I own a business in that district, but I don't vote in it, but my business partner does. I'm certain he has no interest in replacing a "blue dog" with a "red dog." The "Democratic Reform Party" is YOU, Eric. You registered the domain in August 25th of this year, the group wasn't "formed" on "Constitution Day" it was formed when you dreamt up the idea in August and went domain-name hunting. "Formed on Constitution Day" sure sound nice.

I love this part. YOUR website has a link to report "criminal activity" in the Democratic Party to the FBI. Really? So, uh, you're a Democrat, huh? Nowhere do you ask your "members" to report corruption as a whole, of any politician, you target Democrats. Interesting. You call for a BOYCOTT of Democratic Candidates, and donations to them, unless they get the clearance from your homemade group that they are not corrupt or "Socialists." I don't think you actually know what socialism is, Eric.

You may not get it, but we Democrats are not stupid. Posing as a Democrat, posting conspiratorial nonsense, and making it look like you're some kind of hero for giving us information my kid could find in Google is not gong to get you elected. You may have some success over in the Teabag Movement, though. Perhaps you should try them, because we know a faux-Democract when we hear one. Do you think you're a clever boy who is going to infiltrate the Democratic Party, claim to be a Democrat, unseat a sitting Congressman with his party's backing, while making outlandish Teabagger-esque claims and sporting a link to have people send you checks to your home to join your party? REALLY? REALLY?

Tell us about your history of support for the Democratic Party, Eric. Tell us why you are a Democrat. Tell us why did you leave the Republican Party (in name, anyway) and decided to call yourself a Democrat now? Did you think you could come save us from ourselves?
Are you glad to see the Democrat majority Senate bribe Senators into supporting the healthcare bill? Now it will just be up to other states (including Tennessee) to pick up all the slack. Where do they get off bribing people and not calling it a "bribe"? Our Democratic Party has really sunk below expectations and standards - now they have to bribe people to support them.
What do you mean by "our Democratic Party?"

Here are some fun quotes from Eric Pearson, a man who started his very own third-party and calls its "Democratic" therefore he's now somehow a real Democrat. If its underlined and not a link, its a direct quote from Eric Pearson easily found using Google.

Here's what Eric Pearson thinks of us Democrats, those of us who support the party, who knock on the doors, who help elect the leaders, who make the donations, who call their elected leadership to voice their concerns:

Eric Pearson, self-proclaimed candidate for District 5 as a "Democrat" doesn't like our DNC very much
"I do not agree with our Democratic Party representatives in Washington."

Eric Pearson thinks our party is obsessed with becoming the UK monarchy we left behind over two hundred years ago and takes a pot-shot at our party's top guy, the President of the United States, Barack Obama:
"Our Democratic Party has moved to the far left, and we in the center and right are extremely dissatisfied with the “Change We Can Believe In” politicians and their obsession with making our Nation more like the Europe our forefathers had left behind."

Eric Pearson thinks that many of our elected leaders in this party are "tyrants."
Most Democrats already know their pleas to the Democratic Party are only being answered by repeated insult and injury. Many of our elected officials are no longer thinking of themselves as being our representatives, but instead refer to themselves as leaders in the true form of tyrants."

Eric Pearson things that our party is so corrupted that its leaders have abandoned the US Constitution
"Nearly everyone of our elected representatives within the Democratic Party are no longer following in the time-honored footsteps laid down by the founding fathers of our great Nation. More importantly, we as democrats see our elected representatives within the Democratic Party abandoning the principles and values as set forth within the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States."

Eric Pearson thinks the DNC's leadership is a really a radical socialist conspiracy bent on implementing commie doctrines
"Furthermore, our current Democratic Party leadership is tainted by corruption, and the liberals among us are supporting far-left socialist radicals with their agendas based on implementing socialist political doctrines into laws that are non-constitutional. This is a real threat to everything we hold sacred in America, and they are gaining evermore control over our Democratic Party, our Nation, and the American people."

Eric Pearson believes we Democrats and our party want to DESTROY AMERICA!
To all intents and purposes, our Democratic Party is undermining and destroying our American democracy as founded in protecting individual liberty and freedom. The examples are so numerous it is nearly imposable to keep up with all of them.

But still, all is not lost, you see, Eric Pearson has a plan, and he can lead us to redemption from the evil conspiring commie socialist pinkos currently in control.......the answer? Cut off funding for all levels of the Democratic Party
"Despite this, we as Democrats can restore control of the Democratic Party back to the party members. All we need to do is cut off donations to the local, state, and national headquarters of the Democratic Party, and to make sure the donations are made directly to patriotic and honorable Democratic Party candidates that are not corrupt or Socialists.

Eric Pearson, who for most of his life never voted and when he did, registered as a Republican in Florida, is now a patriot, a third-party creator using the name "Democrat" and wants your support for his campaign to unseat that conspiring, corrupt, radical socialist agenda of Jim Cooper's, and he wants your help, well, at least the help of all of you real patriots who are not corrupt or socialists.

"So please help spread the message to everyone of our fellow Democrats. Also, don’t forget to contact and request the Unions and other outside contributors to follow our lead as patriotic Americans."

A little Google goes a long way, Eric. You're declared to be running AS A DEMOCRAT for a seat in Congress. You want the support of the Democratic Party members, yet you insult us, call us supporters of socialism, accuse us of undermining democracy and destroying America, and robbing everyone of their freedoms and liberties. You can't come into the DNC (which they've already called you out on a blog posting there, which...) and insult us, call us everything evil you can muster, and then expect to be supported as a candidate. And you surely should not be surprised when people are offended at being told they support the destruction of their country, or are conspiring to implement "socialist doctrines" and other nutty things like that.

Please, seek support elsewhere. You're not a Democrat. Making your website say "Democrat" does not make you a Democrat.
it is a shame to see again another american who are using a common name but doesn't know what is the meaning. some people should not use the word "socialism" as they don't know what is it to be socialist or to live in a real socialist country...

As a french person, I think that I well know, better than Eric or evry single republican or conservative , what is it to be a socialist with all the bad and good meaning of this word!
Also we can ask to my wife since she is polish. Her familly left a long time ago Poland because they were threatened by the bad socialists and communists...

Good job Mike with this post !
@Eric
The public deficit in France for 2009 is about 140 billions of euros.... but the deficit is not about healthcare only.
IT is about our system based on outrageaous financial help ( socialist country for a long time ), waste and fraud.
I do believe that there are two important basic rights that any government should provide : Health care and Education.
the health care system in France is a good one (with no waste an fraud) and U.S should "steal" it from us...I don't understand why, with all those examples around the world about healthcare system which work, th US lawmakers didn't try to take the best of all those systems and then create the best health care system in the world.

I dream to see this country coming back to the best place where to live in the world...
This guy Eric is a troll. He isn't here to provide adult discourse on this subject - he is here to insult and degrade. Ignore him.
