Congressman Duncan has a healthcare "poll" on his website that says:
Should there be a government-run healthcare plan that competes with private insurers?
Yes
No
Not Sure

Go and vote at the bottom of his page on the right hand side and then write Duncan and let him know that you support a public option.

You can find more information about the public option and more importantly problems associated with for profit private insurance at Bill Moyers website

I started writing "Letters to the Editor" a couple of weeks ago, and they published one today. I'm pretty sure we need to keep up the pressure.
It's working. We had a Healthcare Rally Thursday and met with aides from Alexander and Corker. They are "feeling" us.

Congressman Duncan has a one-question health care plan survey on his web site at http://www.house.gov/duncan/. He wants to know if 2nd District residents think there should be "a government-run health care plan to compete with private insurers." As of 1:45 p.m., the votes were running 57% yes, 42% no, and 1% undecided. Be sure to go over to the site and add your opinion.

I just wanted to post a note here thanking Gloria and the TNDP for hosting the SOS Training over the weekend in Knoxville. I found the workshops to be great introductions to a variety of topics as we plan for 2010. I also found myself already brainstorming ideas for what we might do locally to gain some success in Knox County. I hope we might have the opportunity in the coming weeks to start putting together some strategies for 2010.

Kudos to everyone involved in the planning of the SOS event.

Exciting news about the new HQ. I've posted a blog entry about it at No Silence Here. R. Neal also has a post about it at KnoxViews.
