Brad Parish announces his endorsement of Brenda Short for Tennessee’s 3rd Congressional District

Oak Ridge, TN - Brad Parish announced his endorsement of Brenda Short from East Ridge, Tennessee as he ends his exploratory committee today and transitions to campaigning for Brenda. Parish has been a lifelong advocate for the cutting edge science, technology and energy opportunities that come out of Oak Ridge and the Technology Corridor.

Parish stated:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of listening to the voters from across the 3rd District about their concerns, hopes and vision for our state and our nation. I would like to thank all of my supporters and assure them that I strongly believe that Brenda Short will be a valiant representative for the 3rd Congressional District.

Brenda Short's message of “inclusiveness” was paramount in my decision to support her, as I also strongly believe in reaching out to independents and Republicans on national policies. I applaud Brenda for her stance in wanting to “unite the people." I have not seen the desire to work across ideological lines evident in any of her opponents. There is an immediate need for all of us to work together to create jobs and find real solutions to the health care crisis. We must grow our economy long-term through small businesses and the commercial sector. We need Brenda's independent leadership to move the country forward and away from political posturing and gridlock.

Brenda’s experience working with Marilyn Lloyd in the 3rd District provides her with a unique understanding of its constituents. I have always had great admiration for former democratic U.S. Representative Marilyn Lloyd and the great work that she brought to the 3rd District. Representative Lloyd's hard work impacted the entire world through enriching the scientific discoveries and investments that continue to be made here in East Tennessee.”

Brad Parish has ongoing long-term plans to focus his energy on small business development and the creation of an amenable political working environment in East Tennessee. Parish has pledged to back-up his endorsement today by tirelessly working to bring the support of voters in Oak Ridge as well as the middle and upper region of the 3rd district to Brenda Short’s campaign.

Parish is the Vice President of CPS, Inc. in Knoxville and lives in Kingston, TN with his wife Esther, a scientist at ORNL, and their two children Levi (age 6) and Avery (age 4).

The Jefferson County Democratic Party was again extremely proud to have Paula Flowers as our guest. Paula was gracious enough to speak at our Annual Bean Supper. We were happy to have the opportunity to introduce her to a larger segment of our membership.

The Jefferson County Democratic Party ( and everyone who met her) was extremely proud that Paula Flowers came to the Ole Time Saturday event. It was a pleasure to see how she well she related to the people on the street( I know of at least one Republican she won over.), and how easily she spoke to issues. We are still looking to get her back to our Bean Supper and hopefully to a forum on health care.

Activity Update: Busy week, and a great weekend! Former Congresswoman Marilyn Lloyd hosted a beautiful event for me at her home in Chattanooga with wonderful cohosts John Brooks, Tom Beehan, Kay Brookshire, Colleen Carboni, Dr. James and Rhonda Catanzaro, John Franklin, Jim Hall, Tom Hill, Pam Ladd, Joe LaGrone, Jenny Lawrence, Andrae' McGary, Dr. Bernie Miller, Bryan & Kathy Patten, and Paul Smith. So many wonderful friends, new and old, joined us!
Saturday I visited with friends and supporters in Grainger and Hamilton County. Lots of miles, and lots of questions and ideas were shared.
I also welcomed Libby Johnson to my staff this week. Matt Senko and Michael Beehan also round out the team! So many great volunteers are also stepping up to build our ground team throughout the district. If you're interested in joining our effort, contact our office: info@paulaflowersforcongress.com or (865) 685-0525.

The days leading up to June 30 were busy but exciting! Great new supporters and old friends contributed online through my website and as I spoke to groups across the district. I enjoyed celebrating Lake City's 100th birthday on July 2nd, with storystelling from city fathers.

I had a wonderful July 4th, across Kingston, Norris, and Oak Ridge I spoke to voters who are concerned about jobs, healthcare, and accountability in Washington, D.C. I am looking forward to another busy week in Chattanooga, Roane County, and looking forward to seeing Congressman Jim Cooper tonight.

Don't forget the Hamilton County Picnic on July 14! Big event and hope to see everyone there!

For leadership in Washington that is:
Rational, not radical
Principled, not partisan
Constructive, not divisive
