The TNDP Internship Program provides high school, college, and graduate students with opportunties in Tennessee politics. Students from across the state can participate to develop leadership skills, while working alongside TNDP staff, legislators and candidates.
Students with a desire to work in a political campaign environment are welcomed, but political science and history backgrounds are not required. Opportunities are available for students wanting experience in government, political science, administration, organizing, writing, speaking, communication, graphic design and video production. Selection is based on qualifications as well as each applicant's passion and expected aptitude for the variety of job assignments within the TNDP.
Internships are offered for the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer, both full and part time. Winter, Spring, and Summer applications for 2014 are now available.
There are many benefits of a TNDP Internship, such as direct interaction with political leaders, hands-on experience in a fast-paced political office, and practical training in the tools and techniques of modern campaigns. Based on your performance, your supervisors will be happy to write you strong letters of recommendation and assist you in the next stages of your career.
For those desiring academic credit, the number of academic credits granted depends on your college or university. We are happy to work with any institution to meet the guidelines for credit.
Interns will be assigned to a TNDP office during the term of their assignment, and opportunities are available across the state. Duties may include community outreach, data management, fundraising assistance, event planning assistance, research, grassroots organizing, communications assistance, graphic design, video and web design, and administrative work.
PROJECTS, TOURS AND GUEST SPEAKERS
In the past, we have taken interns to meetings, rallies, and events across the state. Interns have heard from and met with local, state, and national leaders.
