No on Amendment One Campaign Coordinator

The Tennessee Democratic Party is now accepting applications for the position of ‘No on Amendment One’ Campaign Coordinator. Job Description

 

The coordinator will direct all statewide TNDP efforts regarding the campaign to defeat Amendment One on the 2014 ballot. She or he will coordinate closely with our allies in the No on Amendment One ballot initiative to advocate against, educate about, and inspire opposition to Amendment One.

 

Qualifications

Preferred additional attributes:

  • Strong track record working within a formalized campaign coalition with various coalition partners, allies and stakeholder groups;
  • Electoral campaign and/or advocacy campaign experience, particularly with ballot initiative campaigns;
  • Experience writing campaign literature including press releases and campaign talking points.

Duties

The No on Amendment One Campaign Coordinator will be in charge of TNDP’s education and outreach efforts on Amendment One. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Educating, identifying, and defining coalition partners for the campaign
  • Organizing and managing teams of volunteers to conduct educational and outreach events;
  • Working with the Executive Director, Communications Director, and No on Amendment One coalition partners to refine and deliver our campaign message;
  • Reporting to TNDP Executive Committee members on campaign progress.

Salary

The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and abilities. 

Director of Operations- Tennessee Democratic Party 

The Tennessee Democratic Party (TNDP) is hiring a Director of Operations. The Director of Operations position is based at our party headquarters in Nashville, TN.

Job Description

The Director of Operations plays a key role in almost every department at the TNDP. He or she works closely with the Chairman and Executive Director. The Director of Operations oversees and coordinates office operations, procedures, intern recruitment, and management. The Director of Operations is the principal liaison with Executive Committee Members, County Chairs, state and local officials, as well as state and local governments.

Key Responsibilities:

 

County Party & Executive Committee Coordination

o Cultivate and maintain relationships with elected officials and their staff
o Organize meetings and other contact with County Chairs, Executive Committee and Officers
o Communicate to TNDP Chair and Executive Director the concerns of Executive Committee and County Party members
o Handle questions from Executive Committee members and County Chairs

Office Operations

 

o Monitor and assist with Chairman’s and Executive Director’s daily communication and schedules
o Oversee the human resources needs of the TNDP, including: identifying, recruiting, interviewing, and recommending talent and potential staffers; track employee benefits and employee time sheets
o Manage the TNDP intern program
o Update Chairman’s and Executive Director’s calendar and manage event requests and appointments
o Act as liaison to the Democratic National Committee for logistical and administrative matters
o Perform other administrative and operational duties to assist the Chairman and Executive Director

Requirements:

o Bachelor’s degree or three years executive experience required
o Previous administrative experience
o Experience managing staff and volunteers preferred

Communications Director

Job Description

The Tennessee Democratic Party works to elect Democrats by providing resources, tools and training across the state. Crucial to that mission is crafting and selling a unified message. The Communications Director shapes this message and also develops and implements the communications strategy.  

The Communications Director works to increase the visibility of the Party and Tennessee Democrats. The Director develops relationships with media managers and reporters, increases coverage in state, local and online media, effectively utilizes online social networking, and works with the TNDP staff to win elections. The Director reports directly to the Executive Director.

Qualifications

Candidates should have worked with new and traditional media and have a strong commitment to Democratic values.

•    Political campaign and new media or journalism experience;

Candidates for this position should have three years of relevant professional experience.  Advanced degrees may count toward a candidate’s professional experience.  A year-long commitment is required.

 

Duties

The Communications Director will –

  • Develop media-based strategies for electing the Party’s candidates, supporting them as elected officials, and anticipating, and responding to attacks on them or on the Party;
  • Work with the national party, congressional and legislative caucuses, other elected officials, candidates and party representatives to frame, coordinate and deliver  messages;
  • Work with party staff to expand  new media reach;
  • Supervise interns and volunteers assisting in communication duties and oversight of a Rapid Response Team;
  • Oversee TNDP.org so that it is up to date and effectively serves the TNDP;
  • Draft frequent or even daily talking points, press releases, emails and blog posts;
  • Training party leaders, activists, candidates and elected officials about articulating the Party’s values, developing messaging skills, communicating with the media and the public, and using new technologies for delivering a strong messages;
  • Compile and organize opposition research;
  • Supervise and assist in the Chairman’s speech-writing;
  • Perform other work as the State Chair or Executive Director need.
