The Official Community for Tennessee's Democrats
The Delegation of each state to the Democratic National
Committee consists of the highest-ranking elected male and the
highest-ranking elected female within the state's Democratic Party.
The ranking members for the TNDP are Chip Forrester and Elisa
Parker. As determined by the DNC's rules, each state is allocated
an additional number of DNC members. Tennessee has been given three
additional members.
These three DNC members are elected to serve a four-year term by
the Tennessee Democratic Executive Committee. These elections are
held in accordance with National Party rules that call for
elections to be held during the calendar year in which a Democratic
National Convention is held.
The members of Tennessee's delegation are expected to represent Tennessee on all matter which come before the Committee. The responsibilities of the National Committee include but are not limited to:
-electing the National Party Chair and all other National Party
Officers
-issuing the call to the National Convention
-conducting the Party's Presidential Campaign
-formulating and disseminating statements of Party policy
-and setting the DNC's budgets and conducting all other business in
order to carry out the objectives of the Democratic Party
