A Powerful Quote Befitting the Republicans Seeking the Presidential Nomination

In the late 1960s, there was an edgy--perhaps worse than edgy by the standards then--television show on Sunday nights, The Smothers Brothers' Comedy Hour.  One of the most memorable cast members was Pat Paulson.  Pat Paulson gained notariety by becoming a nominee for the President of the United States, and offering his various campaign speeches on the show in about the most dull monotone.  Even after the show was taken off the air part way though its third season, Pat Paulson continued to run for President for just about the rest of his life.

I offer this background because it provides context for comparison to what is going on in the Republican debates of late.  A relevant quotation from Pat Paulson is,

"The other candidates charge that when I speak I often embarrass myself.  Well at least I don't embarrass the whole country."
