The Official Community for Tennessee's Democrats
In Michigan, a Republican state senator Bruce Casswell has introduced legislation that would require that all foster children would be allowed to purchase clothing only at Goodwill, Salvation Army and other used clothing stores. His rationale for this: “I never had anything new. I got all the hand-me-downs. And my dad, he did a lot of shopping at the Salvation Army, and his comment was — and quite frankly it’s true — once you’re out of the store and you walk down the street, nobody knows where you bought your clothes.”
How in the world did this get past our legislature without being introduced this session--given the way Republicans cut programs for the needy only to cut taxes for their constituents..the monied class.
